Dine Out With Heart – DOWH
The purpose of this ten-member committee is to sponsor a fundraiser event that supports the reduction of hunger and/or food insecurity in the designated Philo community area.
It plans a yearly fundraising event and is responsible for communicating with and collecting information from participating establishments (restaurants, bars, etc.). In addition, the committee works within the business community to obtain sponsorships and other in-kind donations needed for the event. Members of the committee assist in local marketing connections, and media outlets for event promotion. They create and provide marketing materials and donation options (via cash, check or electronic means) to the establishments, event participants and the community at large.
After the event, materials and funds are collected, tabulated, and presented to the Philo treasurer for deposit for follow-up grant distribution. Incentives may be awarded to businesses and employees based on performance and participation.
Proceeds from the fundraiser are allocated to community grants. Local non-profits that specifically focus on reducing hunger or food insecurity in the Loveland/Berthoud/R2-J School District are invited to apply for funding. The DOWH committee reviews the applications and awards funding based on each agency’s impact and alignment with the DOWH mission and guideline.
